(RTTNews) - Water technology firm Badger Meter, Inc. (BMI) reported Thursday that net earnings for the third quarter increased to $25.97 million or $0.88 per share from $17.93 million or $0.61 per share in the prior-year quarter.
On average, five analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.81 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Total net sales for the quarter increased 25 percent to a record $186.19 million from $148.01 million in the same quarter last year. Analysts expected revenue of $179.06 million for the quarter.

The harmonized index of consumer prices grew 2.2 percent on a yearly basis in April, the same pace of increase as seen in March, flash data from Eurostat showed on Friday. Prices were expected to climb at a slower pace of 2.1 percent.

Eurozone Manufacturing Activity Shrinks At Slower Pace
Euro area factory activity contracted at a slower pace in April as production grew at the fastest pace in more than three years, final data of the purchasing managers' survey by S&P Global showed Friday. The HCOB manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index rose to a 32-month high of 49.0 in April from 48.6 in March. The score was also above the flash estimate of 48.7.
